Why choose Rusland's Bidfromhome.ca?

- Over 50 years of experience. Our expertise will expose your items to a large number of potential buyers (who may not drive the distance to attend a live auction). We ship items all over Canada & the US.

- Selling is effortless for you! We will photograph, provide descriptions, catalogue your items, and host the online auction and pick up.

- By selling online, you are able to follow the bids on the internet. The online process is beneficial to executors and family members not located nearby, as they can follow online from anywhere!

How does it work?

When the consignment is large enough for its own sale, items remain at the property where our BidFromHome.ca team will sort, organize, take photographs, and create a catalogue for your items. The online process has minimal impact to your property, as buyers arrive only at your site for pick up.

For smaller consignments, items can be brought to our office by appointment, at our location on the County Road 19 in Peterborough. These items will be put in one of our multi-consignor auctions, which are held frequently, depending on demand. If these smaller consignments require moving to our facility, we can make arrangements for our team to transport items at an additional charge.

Once catalogued, we focus on advertising — creating print and online ads and posting notices. We utilize our email database of over 1,500 subscribers to reach out to a pool of active bidders.

Most of our auctions open for bidding on Saturday morning and begin to close on Wednesday evening at 7pm. After the auction closes, invoices are generated and sent to buyers. Pickup is typically the following day, with times varying depending on location and number of lots.

What happens after the auction?

After items have been picked up and payments received, the auction is reconciled and cheques are processed within 30 days.

Along with the net proceeds cheque, we include a consignor settlement report that lists the selling price of each item, along with a break down of your expenses.

What are the costs of having an auction?

Commission rate will be determined upon viewing your items. Factors include the quantity and quality of your items. Location of consignment and types of services also affect the commission rate.

An administration fee will be applied which encompasses: photography, advertising, and cataloguing. Additional fees may apply (sorting, trucking, disposal, packing materials). The costs of selling by online auction are applied to the gross proceeds from the sale of your consignment.
