The Rusland family has been in the auction business since 1972 – our 50th year!

 

Originally started by the late Bill Rusland, who ran live auctions in downtown Peterborough, at 216 Hunter St W, now the home of The Only Cafe.

 

He was soon joined in business by his son, Rob, who later took over the business entirely in 1991. Accompanied by his wife, Jackie, he ran monthly multi-consignor auctions at the Evinrude Centre for many years, as well as frequent on-site estate sales.

 

In 2003, Rob and Jackie opened Chemong Storage, on County Road 19, offering heated and cold storage units. The storage business is now managed by their son, Trent, who also offers computer repair services, further expanding the scope of the business.

Rob is also a Certified Personal Property Appraiser, providing appraisal services for estates, divorces, insurance, and more. He is the official appraiser for the Peterborough Museum & Archives.

 

 

After thousands of successful live auctions, Rusland’s made the transition to online auctions in 2014, and has never looked back!

 

In February 2020, construction was far enough along on our new warehouse to move the auction headquarters to the Chemong Storage property, thus consolidating everything to one address.

 

Specializing in estates, downsizing, and senior transitions, we’ve sold everything from classic cars to jewellery to furniture, and everything in between!

 

We have hundreds of bidders all across Canada and the US, and have shipped items across the world.
